I’m Matt DeMonbrun, a dedicated researcher and higher education professional passionate about improving student outcomes and advancing equity in academic environments.

With a foundation in engineering and higher education, I focus on data-driven decision-making, policy analysis, and the socialization of teaching and learning. My work blends qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to address pressing issues in higher education, including active learning adoption, equity in enrollment management, and the impact of institutional policies on student success. Recently, I have concentrated on improving access and success for adult learners, developing strategies to address the unique barriers they face and promoting innovations that support their educational and professional growth.

Experience

Research Director, Michigan Center for Adult College Success (2023–Present)

Lead research initiatives aimed at improving access and success for adult learners in Michigan. Develop and oversee evaluation frameworks to assess program effectiveness, analyze state and institutional data, and provide actionable recommendations to stakeholders. Collaborate with institutions to identify best practices and scale innovations for adult learner engagement and success.
